Q1: How do I choose the size and blade speed of a rotary cultivator? Does it have to match the tractor?
A: The size and power take-off (PTO) speed must be strictly matched to the tractor's horsepower and power output (PTO) speed. Otherwise, the machine will not be able to till the soil and will be damaged. Please use the following formula to select the model:
Size (tillage width) matching:

Tillage width = tractor horsepower × 0.08-0.12 meters (e.g., a 20-horsepower machine should have a 1.6-2.4-meter tillage width; a 50-horsepower machine should have a 4-6-meter tillage width).

Small plots/orchards: Choose a rotary cultivator width (1.2-1.8 meters) for flexible turning without hitting obstacles.

Large fields (wheat/corn): Choose a wide rotary cultivator width (2.0-3.0 meters) to improve efficiency (till an additional 10-15 mu per day).

Cutter Shaft Speed ​​Matching: The cutter shaft speed must match the tractor's PTO speed (PTO speeds are divided into 540r/min and 1000r/min):

Paddy/Soft Soil: Replace every 100-150 mu (wear slows, but if there is heavy mud buildup, regular cleaning is necessary to prevent deformation);

Straw Return: Replace every 30-50 mu (straw is hard, so blades are prone to chipping). Model Selection: You must select blades that are compatible with the rotary cultivator's blade shaft (see "Blade Holder Aperture and Blade Length").

Contraindications: Do not mix blades of different models (e.g., 245 and 265 blades, as this will cause the blade shaft to become unbalanced, resulting in abnormal noise and vibration).

Installation Notes:
Correct Orientation: The blade's "penetrating edge" faces the direction of operation (marked "forward" or with an arrow). Installing it the wrong way around will result in difficulty penetrating the soil and poor soil crushing.

Symmetrical Installation: The left and right blades should be evenly spaced (e.g., install a "left-hand" blade on the left side of the cutter shaft and a "right-hand" blade on the right side to prevent the machine from wandering).

Tightening: Use high-strength bolts (grade 8.8 or higher) and tighten to the specified torque according to the manufacturer's instructions (e.g., 35-40 N·m for M12 bolts). Too loose bolts can cause them to fall off, while too tight bolts can cause them to break.

Q3: My rotary cultivator's blade shaft won't turn. Is it a bad bearing? How can I repair it?
A: A blade shaft that won't turn is often related to bearing damage, foreign object jamming, or transmission component failure. Repairs can be made in the following steps:

First, check for "foreign object jamming": Remove the protective cover and clear weeds, rocks, or wire from the blade shaft (if foreign object is trapped between the blade shaft and the frame, rotary cultivator can directly jam the blade shaft).

After cleaning, try to rotate the blade shaft. If it rotates, no bearing repair is necessary.

Next, check for "bearing damage": If it still won't turn after cleaning, remove the bearing seats at both ends of the blade shaft (use a wrench to remove the screws) and check for rust or loose balls. If damaged, replace bearings with the same model, such as 6206 or 30206 bearings, that match the original model.

When replacing bearings, apply grease (lithium-based grease) to the inner ring of the bearing and replace the bearing seat seal at the same time to prevent dirt from entering and extend the life of the new bearing.

Finally, check the transmission components: If the bearings are intact, inspect the PTO. Check whether the universal joint of the drive shaft is stuck (lack of grease will cause the universal joint to jam), and add grease; if the drive shaft is bent, it needs to be straightened or replaced (bending will cause power to be unable to be transmitted → the knife shaft will not rotate).
