Q1: How do I choose the right plow based on my land conditions (soil type, plot size)?
- For heavy clay soil/compacted land: A disc plow (disc blades offer strong penetration and resist sticking to mud) or a heavy moldboard  (body is strong and wear-resistant) is preferred.

- For sandy soil/loose soil: A lightweight moldboard (higher efficiency and lower costs) is an option.

- For rocky land: A plow with an overload protection device (such as a spring-loaded safety pin or hydraulic protection) is recommended to prevent damage to the body from collisions with rocks.

- Small plots (<5 mu)/irregular plots: Choose a small mounted plow (suitable for 30-50 horsepower tractors, with flexible steering and minimal land use).

- Large plots (>20 mu)/contiguous plots: Choose a large tractor or reversible (2-4 meters wide, paired with a tractor of 80 horsepower or more, which increases operating efficiency by over 50%).

- Deep tillage (>25cm, such as corn/cotton preceding crop): Choose a deep-tillage moldboard (longer plow column, wide adjustable tillage depth range).

- Straw return + soil tillage: Choose a plow with a straw shredder assist device, or prioritize a reversible (which provides better soil coverage and even straw burial depth).

Q2: My tractor has 50 horsepower. What width plow should I choose? Will it be too heavy to pull or waste power?
Matching horsepower to width should adhere to the principle of "maximizing efficiency without overloading power."

The compatibility range for a 50-horsepower tractor is as follows:
Foldboard: 2-3 plows are recommended, with a width of 1.2-1.8 meters (e.g., a 2-furrow has a width of 1.2 meters, a 3-furrow has a width of 1.6 meters).

Disc plow: 3-4 discs are recommended, with a width of 1.4-2.0 meters.

Core logic: Working resistance" must match the tractor's "traction."

If the width is too wide (e.g., a 50-horsepower pulling a 2.2-meter plow), the tractor will stall, fuel consumption will increase sharply (possibly by over 30%), and even damage the transmission.

If the width is too narrow (e.g., a 50-horsepower pulling a 0.8-meter), power is wasted and operating efficiency is reduced (increasing working time per acre by 20%).

It is recommended to provide the manufacturer with the actual tractor's traction parameters (not just horsepower) before purchasing. Some manufacturers can customize the width.

Q3: Why isn't the plowing depth deep enough when I'm plowing?

Even adjusting the depth handle doesn't help.

Insufficient depth is often caused by equipment adjustment or soil resistance.

You can troubleshoot by following these steps:

Check the plow's mounting height:
For a suspension, ensure the upper and lower links of the three-point linkage are level (or the upper link is slightly lower). If the upper link is too high, the body will tilt, resulting in shallowerdepth.

For a traction plow, adjust the drawbar height to ensure the plow body engages the soil at a proper angle (generally 15-20°).

Check the soil penetration angle and counterweight:
Some lightweight plows may not be able to deeply in heavy soils due to high soil penetration resistance.

You can add counterweights (such as cast iron counterweights) to the frame or adjust the plowshare's soil penetration angle (increase the angle using the adjustment holes on the plow column).

Checking the tractor's power output:
If the tractor's hydraulic system pressure is insufficient (e.g., a hydraulic pump failure), the will not be able to descend to the set depth.

Check the hydraulic oil level and pressure (normal pressure is 20-30 MPa).

Q4: The plowed field has large lumps of soil, resulting in poor soil pulverization. How can I fix this?
Poor soil pulverization is related to " type selection," "equipment condition," and "operating speed."

The corresponding solutions are as follows:

Type issue: If a conventional moldboard is used for heavy clay soil, soil pulverization is inherently weak. It is recommended to install a "soil pulverizer roller" (attached to the rear of crush lumps) or to replace it with a disc plow (the disc rotates and cuts the soil, resulting in a 20%-30% higher soil pulverization rate than a moldboard plow).

Wear: When the plowshare's cutting edge becomes blunt, it can no longer "cut" the soil and can only "push" it, causing larger clods.

The needs to be replaced promptly (generally, a plowshare should be replaced when wear exceeds 5mm; a high-quality alloy plowshare can last for 500-800 mu).

Improper operating speed: Too slow a speed (<3 km/h) causes the soil to be "slowly squeezed," forming larger clumps; too fast a speed (>6 km/h) causes the body to vibrate and depth to be uneven.

It is recommended to adjust the speed based on the soil type: 3-4 km/h for heavy clay soils and 4-5 km/h for loose soils.

Q5: How can I store my plow to prevent rust and damage during the winter (or for extended periods of time)?

Long-term storage is crucial for preventing corrosion and deformation.

The steps are as follows:

Thorough Cleaning: Remove dirt and straw from the body and plow frame (especially the inside of the plow wall and bearing gaps) to prevent moisture from rusting.

Component Maintenance:

Vulnerable Parts: Remove severely worn and bearings and replace them with new ones before storage.

Metal Parts: Apply anti-rust paint or oil to all exposed metal (such as the frame and drawbar).

Hydraulic Parts: For hydraulically tilting plows, retract the hydraulic cylinder, bleed all air from the cylinder, and fill the hydraulic oil to the specified level to prevent cracking at low temperatures.

Appropriate Storage:

Avoid outdoor storage (if outdoor storage is unavoidable, cover with a tarpaulin and place wooden blocks underneath to prevent moisture).

For suspended plows, elevate the body (using brackets or bricks to support the frame) to prevent deformation caused by prolonged contact with the ground.

For tow plows, loosen the tow rope to prevent the drawbar from bending under prolonged stress.
