Q1: How do you determine whether the farm implements are compatible with your tractor? What parameters should you look at?

A: The "matching degree" between farm implements and tractors directly determines whether the operation can proceed normally.

The core is to look at three key parameters, none of which can be missing:

(1) Tractor horsepower: The horsepower required by the agricultural implement must be ≤ the rated horsepower of the tractor (reserve 10%-20% redundancy to avoid overload).

Example: 20-30 horsepower compact tractors → suitable for 1.2m rotary tillers, small seed drills (vegetables), 2-row mowers;

50-70 horsepower tractors → suitable for 1.8m rotary tillers, 4-row rice transplanters, medium-sized sprayers (large fields);

100 horsepower and above → suitable for rotary tillers over 2.5m, straw balers, and large combined tillers.

Taboo: 50 horsepower tractors are prohibited from being equipped with 80 horsepower heavy plows (which will cause the tractor to stall and the gearbox to be damaged).

(2) Interface type: mainly depends on the tractor's three-point suspension "category" and the "number of hydraulic output groups": Three-point suspension category: divided into categories I/II/III

(category I: 20-50 horsepower, suspension pin diameter 19-25mm;

category II: 50-100 horsepower, pin diameter 25-30mm;

category III: 100 horsepower and above, pin diameter 30-40mm).

The farm implements suspension interface must be completely consistent with the category (for example, category I tractors are prohibited from hanging category II agricultural implements, and the pins cannot match).

Number of hydraulic output groups: Single farm implements operation (such as rotary tiller) requires 1-2 groups; multi-agricultural implement combined operation (such as sowing + fertilizing + mulching) requires more than 3 groups.

Insufficient number of tractor hydraulic output groups will cause farm implements movement to lag.

Q2: What adjustments are required when using a new a farm implements for the first time? Can it be operated directly by hanging it on the tractor?

A: It cannot be operated directly. "First adjustment" is the key to ensuring the operation effect and equipment safety. It is divided into 3 steps:

(1) Safety inspection (must be done):

Farm implements itself: Check whether the screws are loose (such as rotary tiller blade screws, planter seed plate screws), whether the rotating parts are stuck (such as knife shafts and conveyor belts, which need to be greased), and whether the protective devices are intact (such as protective covers and guardrails, which are prohibited from being removed);

Connection parts: The tractor's three-point suspension pins must be locked (to prevent the agricultural implement from falling), the farm implements hydraulic pipe joints must be tightened (to prevent leakage), and the safety pin must be inserted after the PTO shaft is connected (to prevent injury during high-speed rotation).

(2) Parameter adaptation and debugging:

Tillage (rotary tiller/plow): adjust the tillage depth (through the tractor farm implements suspension limiter, such as 15cm tillage depth before sowing, 25cm deep tillage), levelness (left and right height difference ≤1cm, to avoid uneven tillage depth);

Sowing (seeder): calibrate the sowing amount (adjust the seed disc gap according to the crop variety, such as 15kg per mu of wheat, and after adjustment, try sowing 10 meters on the open ground, weigh and check whether it meets the standard), row spacing (adjust the spacing between sowing units, such as 60cm row spacing for corn, measure with a tape measure and then fix it);

Spraying (sprayer): debug the spray width (change the nozzle model, such as wide nozzle for field and high-pressure narrow nozzle for orchard), atomization effect (adjust the pressure, such as 0.3MPa for conventional spraying, to avoid excessive pressure causing the liquid to drift).

(3) No-load test run: Start the tractor at idle speed and slowly engage the PTO farm implements (run at low speed for 5 minutes first). Observe the implement for any unusual noises or vibrations (e.g., unusual noises from the blade shaft of a rotary tiller may indicate that the blade is installed in reverse and needs to be adjusted).

Test the hydraulic operation (e.g., raising/lowering the farm implements, adjusting the working angle), confirming that the operation is smooth and without any jamming, before proceeding to field operation (to avoid malfunctions caused by direct load operation).

(3) Power take-off (PTO) speed: This must correspond to the PTO speed required by the implement (commonly 540 rpm and 1000 rpm):

540 rpm PTO farm implements: Suitable for light implements (such as small rotary tillers and lawn mowers);

1000 rpm PTO farm implements: Suitable for heavy implements (such as large straw returners and silage machines).

For example: If a baler requiring a 1000 rpm PTO is connected to a tractor with a 540 rpm PTO farm implements, the insufficient speed will result in loose bales.
