The structure of a tractor-mounted drum mower is designed around two core elements: power transmission and cutting. These include:

Drive system: Comprised of a gearbox, drive shaft, or chain, it converts tractor power into drum rotation. Some models feature a speed controller to adjust the drum speed based on grass conditions. Height Adjustment: A hydraulic cylinder or mechanical linkage controls the distance between the drum and the ground, adjusting the cutting height (typically within a range of 3-15 cm) to meet the stubble retention requirements of different lawns or forages.
Frame and Guards: The frame is welded from high-strength steel to ensure stability during operation. A protective shield is installed on the outside of the drum to prevent grass clippings from flying and contact with the blades, enhancing safety.

Drivetrain
This system primarily uses shaft input and diesel engine belt input. It transmits tractor power to the cutting system, rotating the cutterhead.
Frame
The mower's supporting structure, used to mount and secure other components and ensure stability during operation.


Cutting System
This system includes the cutterhead and blades. The blades are secured to the cutterhead with bolts and are movable, cutting the grass using inertia when the cutterhead rotates at high speed.
Hydraulic Lift System
This system uses a single-cylinder hydraulic system or leverages the tractor's hydraulic pressure to lift the machine, thereby controlling the cutting height.

High Mowing Efficiency: Multiple disc cutters operate simultaneously at a high speed, enabling large areas to be mowed in a short time, improving efficiency.
Clean Cutting: The disc mower's blades maintain a relatively stable cutting height during rotation, resulting in a clean cut and facilitating subsequent grass collection and processing.
Strong Contour Ability: Some mowers are equipped with mechanical floating systems or hydraulic-pneumatic suspension systems, which automatically adjust the mower's height to the surface, maintaining an appropriate distance from the ground. This provides excellent contouring, ensuring a close cut while protecting the grass.
Good Protection: The blades are retracted when encountering large obstacles, preventing damage. Some mowers also feature an automatic safety release mechanism, which automatically releases the mower bar when it encounters an obstacle, protecting mower components from damage.
Simple structure and low maintenance cost: Compared with some other types of lawn mowers, the mechanical structure of the rear disc mower is relatively simple. It adopts rubber belt transmission and other methods to reduce the complex gear transmission device, with good working stability, low failure rate and low maintenance cost.


Precautions for Using a Tractor-Type Drum Mower
Matching Tractor Power: Choose a tractor with the appropriate power (usually 25-60 horsepower) based on the mower's swath width and number of drums to avoid underpowering or overloading.

Avoiding Obstacles: Observe the ground carefully during operation and avoid hard objects such as rocks and tree roots to prevent blade damage and excessive vibration.
