Many operators usually focus on changing the engine oil and hydraulic oil when maintaining their tractors, and easily overlook the intake air. Many people only know about an air filter, but in fact, the entire intake system of a 40 horsepower tractor is a set of components that work together, not just a single filter. The LEADRAY 404, a 40 horsepower four-wheel drive tractor, runs in the fields every day with a lot of dust and straw debris. The difference in air intake system is really significant.
The entire intake system, in simple terms, is a set of pipelines that deliver clean air to the engine. Diesel combustion requires air, and if the incoming air carries a large amount of dust and fine sand that directly grinds the piston and cylinder liner, the engine will soon leak oil and power will fall off, resulting in high maintenance costs.
From outside to inside, they are: intake port, intake pipe, air filter assembly, connecting hose, and finally connected to the engine's intake manifold. Our 40hp tractor is equipped with a two-stage air filter structure, with a coarse filter on the outside to first trap large straw debris and large dust particles; Inside is the main filter element, which filters out fine dust. Many tractors used in field operations have two-stage filtration that is much more reliable than single-stage air filtration, especially in dry, windy, and straw rich areas.
Many users are prone to pitfalls: if the filter is clogged and not cleaned in a timely manner, the intake resistance will increase, the engine intake will be insufficient, the work will be boring, and fuel consumption will increase; There are also pictures of buying cheap and low-quality filter cartridges. Although the size is the same, the filtering effect is poor and dust still runs into the engine. There are also many cases where the hose buckle is not securely fastened during installation, causing air leakage in the pipeline and dust to bypass the filter element and enter the cylinder directly. This situation is particularly common for engine failure.

Daily maintenance is not difficult either. When returning from the ground, blow the external filter frequently, and check areas with more dust more frequently; At the designated working hours, replace the entire set of filter cartridges directly. If you frequently work after sand lifting and dry field harvesting, the maintenance cycle should be shortened and not rigidly follow the hours specified in the manual.
The intake layout of the LEADRAY 40 horsepower tractor also takes into account agricultural conditions. Raise the position of the air intake to avoid dust raised by the ground as much as possible and reduce the direct suction of large amounts of sediment. This design has obvious advantages in dry land, orchards, and dusty areas.

When there is a problem with the intake system, many fault phenomena are easily misjudged: the tractor is sluggish, there is heavy black smoke, and fuel consumption inexplicably increases. Many people's first reaction is that the oil pump or fuel injector is broken, but when they open it, they find that the air filter is blocked. Checking the intake first is a very convenient troubleshooting step.
